  • Specification
  • Product Description:
  • Mouse monoclonal antibody raised against native GP9.
  • Immunogen:
  • Native purified CD9 fron human red blood cells and platelets.
  • Host:
  • Mouse
  • Reactivity:
  • Human
  • Specificity:
  • Anti-CD42a, clone GR-P was included in the fifth International Workshop on human Differentiation Antigens. Reacts with a 17-22kD, single chain integral membrane glycoprotein, also known as GPIX. CD42a forms a non-covalently linked complex (GPIb/GPIX/GPV) with CD42b, CD42c and CD42d. It is expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes and is absent on the platelets of patients with Bernadr-Soulier Syndrome (BSS). Although the CD42a function is not fully understood, GPIX glycoprotein is important for the assembly and membrane expression of the complex and for the maintenance of the functional conformation of CD42b (GPIb).

  • Gene Information
  • Entrez GeneID:
  • 2815
  • Gene Name:
  • GP9
  • Gene Alias:
  • CD42a,GPIX
  • Gene Description:
  • glycoprotein IX (platelet)
  • Gene Summary:
  • This gene encodes a small membrane glycoprotein found on the surface of human platelets. It forms a 1-to-1 noncovalent complex with glycoprotein Ib, a platelet surface membrane glycoprotein complex that functions as a receptor for von Willebrand factor. The complete receptor complex includes noncovalent association of the alpha and beta subunits with the protein encoded by this gene and platelet glycoprotein V. Defects in this gene are a cause of Bernard-Soulier syndrome, also known as giant platelet disease. These patients have unusually large platelets and have a clinical bleeding tendency. [provided by RefSeq
  • Other Designations:
  • platelet glycoprotein IX
